Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) suffered a cyberattack in August 2023, compromising the personal and health information of 882,000 patients. Exposed data may include names, addresses, dates of birth, medical record numbers, treatment details, health insurance information, Social Security numbers, and driver’s license numbers. The breach caused widespread system outages across HSHS facilities in Illinois and Wisconsin. Investigators confirmed unauthorized access between August 16 and August 27, 2023.
