In December 2024, Ascension, one of the largest private healthcare systems in the U.S., experienced a significant data breach involving a former business partner. On December 5, 2024, Ascension became aware that patient information might have been compromised. Following an internal investigation, it was determined on January 21, 2025, that the breach stemmed from data Ascension had inadvertently disclosed to the partner, who was then targeted due to a vulnerability in third-party software.
The breach affected 437,329 individuals and exposed a broad range of personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI). Exposed data may include names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, dates of birth, race, gender, and Social Security numbers, as well as sensitive medical details such as admission and discharge dates, diagnosis and billing codes, physician names, insurance company names, and medical record numbers.
Attorneys are investigating a potential class action lawsuit to seek compensation for affected individuals. If you received a breach notice, you may be eligible for legal remedies—consider signing up for updates and exploring your rights.
THERE ARE NO COSTS TO PARTICIPATE—LEGAL FEES ARE SOLELY PAID FROM THE FINAL SETTLEMENT OR JUDGMENT, WITH NO OUT-OF-POCKET EXPENSES FOR YOU.
